The last page I focused on the modified and cross contour. I don’t enjoy these as much, and I think it’s because there’s less “fun” in these styles. I did the modified version for the tea cup/saucer and the window viewed tree. I didn’t do well here. They remind me of drawings I used to do as a kid when I was trying to be good at this because they’re not bad, they just don’t look like they were drawn by me, an adult. Looking at your paper the whole time and occasionally glancing at the objects themselves resulted in what I would refer to as “real improvement” if I was in middle school. I guess what I’m learning from this is memory. I think memory isn’t as valued as other artistic necessities and should be due to the constant glancing from object/image to artier and over. Would be nice to learn how to do that less. The cross contour always just confused me. They truly seem the simplest to me and I supposed that’s why I don’t quite get it. I chose a pear for that and it’s pretty self explanatory from there. I’m unsure how one could do better or worse on this style of contouring, it seems to just be lines crossing one another over the outline of the object. I suppose the lines could look more professional or mathematical
